About Children Sing for Peace
Imagine the children of the world growing up with the expectation that they will be friends and not enemies . Imagine helping them to come to this understanding and what a difference such a consciousness could make.
The children do have enemies - and it is not each other... racism, poverty, violence, disease, greed, ignorance,fear....
Children Sing For Peace is about empowering the children of the world through music. It seeks to give voice to the world's children, a means of communication to each other and to the adults of the world - that the time has come for children everywhere to reach out beyond borders and walls and claim each other as friends and not enemies. Gandhi said, "If we are to reach real peace in this world, and if we are to carry on a real war against war, we shall have to begin with the children."
Our signature song is "We Are Children of Peace". (You may download a recording of this song on this website). We sing: We are children of peace, we are the children of the world. We are children of love, friendship, family, music, compassion, courage, dignity, justice, hope...we are the children of the world. This song was written by Mary K. McNeill with the help of hundreds of children who wanted to communicate to children in other parts of the world. One of the verses is "We don't want war anymore...we are the children of the world". (written by a 7 year old boy).
Imagine the children of the world all singing this song - letting it's message help to define and remind them of good and noble things to carry into adulthood where they will change this world.
